The needs of older adults as patients vary depending on their level of dependency, that is, whether they require assistance with activities such as shopping or going out, or with basic daily living tasks like bathing, eating, and dressing.

 

Older adults wish to remain involved in decisions regarding their household, personal belongings, and care. They value being considered, groomed not just kept clean, they suffer from feelings of abandonment by children or close relatives, and from the perception of being a burden, nuisance, or useless, these emotional experiences can lead to a diminished will to live, they often express fear when confronted with illness or death, when they identify with the suffering of people they know.

At COINCIDIR, assessments are conducted to evaluate mental status, functionality (sleep cycle–wake and eating disorders), and mood fluctuations to identify potential risks, the loss of abilities (vision or hearing) significantly impacts their self-esteem.
