Grief among brothers and sisters depends primarily on the closeness of their relationship and their respective ages.

The surviving brother or sister is confronted with their own mortality, often experiencing vulnerability and fear as a result. It is also highly likely that they may feel guilt or remorse, especially if there were unresolved conflicts with the deceased sibling.

Some common manifestations siblings may exhibit after the loss include:

·       Difficulty falling asleep

·       Fragmented sleep or frequent awakenings

·       Nightmares

·       Bedwetting

·       Thumb-sucking

·       Changes in eating habits

·       Decline in academic performance

·       Misbehavior at school or home

At COINCIDIR, we support grieving brothers and sisters by helping them express their emotions and thoughts surrounding the loss, as well as the circumstances around it—such as the visible sadness of their parents and other family members.
